Site Construction

Site construction making progress

Construction is making good progress at the site. The pictures show the building of the levels of the oblique “cut” through the block on which the main friezes will be mounted. The plinths (bases) have been completed and the fitting of the stone is going well. The special stone for the roof is coming from a quarry in Scotland and is due to be delivered in the next week.

The pictures clearly show the diagonal cut which will become the walk way through the monument. This was taken from the top of the London Eye. There is a great view from the “eye”, so if you are taking a flight, make sure you look out for the monument construction site. It is directly across the river from the Eye.
