Paul Nash - Marching Against England
Nash took the title from the German propaganda song 'Wir Fahren Gegen Engelland' (We Are Marching Against England)'.
Before this work could be catalogued it was 'destroyed by enemy action' in 1940 so little is known about it.
It unmistakably depicts a Heinkel 111 and could have been inspired by any number of crashed examples of this type.
***************
May 2022 - a sketch attributed to Nash has surfaced, it is almost certainly a working drawing for the above work.
